I wish I was a little bit taller
I wish I was a baller
I wish I had a kid that would listen when I called her.

Things to know about @PerfectPending
Name: Meredith or Mommy (said in a really whiney voice)
Living in: Salt Lake City, Utah, but I’m a born and raised Texan, so don’t judge me.
Number of followers: I have 3 kids that follow me everywhere. They are my most loyal/hardcore followers. On twitter, I have around 4,000.
Year graduated high school: 1995. Shut up.
Joined Twitter: My bio says 2011, but I don’t think I even knew what Twitter was then. It wasn’t until a couple of years ago that I started really using it for fun and to see how much funnier other people were than me.
Spoiler alert: The fairytale ends with the prince at work, 3 whiney kids, and you are cinderella AND the wicked witch.

Tell us about your family.
I’m married, and I have a girl and two boys. They are 10, 8, and 5.
Why did you join Twitter?
Honestly, I joined originally to follow people that made me laugh.
Why do you tweet? What do you get out of it?
You know the phrase if you don’t laugh you’ll cry? Well, I tweet to keep from crying. Parenting is tough, and I struggle like most parents do to keep up with all the demands of being a good parent. But, tweeting and making a joke out of hard or annoying situations somehow makes me feel better.
I can totally relate to that.
What do you do when you’re not on Twitter?
I’m a freelance writer for Scary Mommy and lots of other sites, and I guess that’s my career now. I also have a blog that I pretend I can make money there too.
Tell us about your blog, Perfection Pending.
I’ve been blogging for 10 years now. I started writing to tell funny stories of my kids for family, but I realized that I love writing. Now I blog to encourage other parents to give up these picture perfect ideas we have about parenting and to be realistic. Some days parenting sucks. Plain and simple. And, it’s OK to talk about it.
Did you find it difficult to switch from writing personal stories about your family to writing about parenting in general? I’ve realized that if I ever want to make money on my other blog that writing personal stories isn’t the way to do it, but that’s what I enjoy. It’s a conundrum for me.
It felt weird at first to be blogging about general parenting issues, but now I realize that there is an audience for that as well. I try to compartmentalize my blog in a way. Some of my readers still really enjoy the personal posts while many of them want things like recipes, or parenting tips. So, mixing it up has worked for me. My mom is the only one that really seems to mind.
My FB and Instagram are mostly for a funny, realistic look at parenting. I try to stick with humor. So I post stuff that makes ME laugh. And, I figure it will help others laugh, too. Sometimes I post sappy stuff that makes me feel things, because I’m actually a big sap, too.
Kidless friend: what do you do all day?
Me: *Looks around at mess
Honestly, I'm not sure. But, it makes me really really tired.

What 80s or 90s movie do you identify with the most?
OMG. I love 80s movies. There are SO many that I love. I remember watching Ferris Bueller a lot as a kid, but one of my favorites has to be Breakfast Club. I love the idea of all these really different kids getting stuck together and then seeing the world differently because of it.
We’ve all had tweets that bomb, what goes through your mind when a tweet bombs?
I’M NOT FUNNY. That’s what I think 99% of the time.
Do you feel like you have a good handle on which tweets will be successful and which ones won’t?
No. I have absolutely no strategy when it comes to twitter. I just throw it out there, and hope that people like it.
What’s the oddest place you’ve tweeted from?
A couch at a kid’s play area where a woman was cutting her toenails next to me.
Do you find yourself most prolific sitting around your house, at the grocery store, or someplace else?
I get most of my inspiration when I’m cooking. Probably because I hate it so much that I’m trying to think of something else to cope.
If you've never said "I love you too" in a way that sounds a tad bit angry, then you must not have kids you are trying to put to bed.

What is your favorite movie of all time?
Here’s the part where I’m a sap. Sound of Music.
Oh that’s in my top 10, love it! Do you ever go through comedy dry spells where you just can’t come up with anything funny to say?
My life seems like a dry spell where I’m not funny. I’m just happy when the funny moments pop in. Then, I usually can think of a ton of tweets at once.
Have you met anyone in person that you knew only from Twitter?
Most tweeters I’ve met I knew from blogging, too. So, yes, I’ve met some people I love on twitter.
I like to go to PTA meetings once a year and just yell, "WAIT. WHAT'S GOING ON?" to everything being said.

Who are some comedians (or comedy shows/sitcoms) who have influenced you?
I’m a huge 30Rock Fan. I love Tina Fey. I also love Arrested Development and New Girl, too. Those 3 sum up my sense of humor.
What advice do you have for someone who’s trying to get better at joke writing on Twitter?
Just keep practicing. I cringe at some of my early tweets. They were not funny. And, follow funny accounts and read them often. I find that when I am frequently following funny people on twitter and going there often to read their tweets, I’m much more inspired to be funny.
Name five tweeters whose tweets consistently make you laugh.
I'm pretty sure putting kids to bed is the real Neverending story.
